Gamblers have an unusual way of making calculations. Human collateral, who never enjoyed the borrowed money, end up repaying both debt and interest. For the past 15 years, Hongjoo has been living this harsh reality, collecting House gambling debts while being collateral for his father’s debt. One day, a man named Mukyeong, known to all House residents as The Patron, shows up with an offer to invest in House. Mukyeong proposes a suspicious deal: Hongjoo can repay his father’s debt by providing information on House residents. “You’re thinking I’m a con artist right now, aren’t you?” “No, I’m not.” “Sure you are. It’s written all over your face. Just one look and a gambler like me can tell.” A gambler, huh? It beats seeing these same old faces any longer. For the first time in his uncertain life, Hongjoo grabs onto this chance at freedom. It may be risky, but he’s going to try. It’s not like a better opportunity is coming.
